The United States Department of Homeland Security has added 10 Nigerians to its “Worst of the Worst” register as the Trump administration intensifies deportation efforts against non-citizens accused or convicted of serious criminal offences.

The Nigerians were identified in an update published by the DHS, which listed offences associated with their arrests, ranging from wire fraud and identity theft to child-related offences, dangerous drugs, weapons possession, aggravated assault and conspiracy.

The Department said the register is intended to highlight what it describes as the “worst of the worst criminal aliens” apprehended by the United States Immigration and Customs Enforcement as part of the administration’s mass deportation campaign.

Among those listed is Temitope Bashua, arrested in Allenwood, Pennsylvania, in connection with wire fraud, identity theft and fraud.

Ojehoro Lewis, arrested in Conroe, Texas, was listed in connection with an offence involving cruelty towards a child, while Osemudiamen Oziegbe, arrested in Louisville, Kentucky, was associated with wire fraud.

Daniel Oworen, also arrested in Conroe, Texas, was listed over a dangerous drugs offence.

The DHS identified Raymond Ekevwo, arrested in Oxford, Wisconsin, in connection with wire fraud.

Franklin Dikeocha, arrested in Dallas, Texas, was listed for a sex offence against a child involving fondling.

Another Nigerian, Johnson Ogunlana, arrested in White Deer, Pennsylvania, was listed in connection with fraud and identity theft.

The register also named Chukwuemeka Okorocha, arrested in Allenwood, Pennsylvania, in connection with wire fraud, dangerous drugs, possession of a weapon and aggravated assault involving a firearm against a non-family member.

Tunde Korede, also arrested in Allenwood, Pennsylvania, was listed for conspiracy.

The tenth Nigerian, Chukwuemeka Chinye, arrested in Pollock, Louisiana, was listed in connection with larceny from a banking-type institution, fraud, identity theft and conspiracy.

DHS said the arrests form part of a broader immigration enforcement campaign being implemented by ICE under President Donald Trump’s administration.

“Under DHS leadership, the hardworking men and women of DHS and ICE are fulfilling President Trump’s promise and carrying out mass deportations — starting with the worst of the worst,” the Department said.

The administration has prioritised the arrest and removal of undocumented immigrants with criminal records or those accused of serious offences as part of its wider immigration enforcement policy.

The inclusion of the 10 Nigerians on the DHS register places them among foreign nationals being highlighted by US authorities as priority cases under the deportation programme.

However, the DHS listing identifies the offences associated with their arrests; the material provided does not establish that every person named has been convicted of each listed offence.
