The Federal Government has declared Friday a public holiday to enable workers across the country to celebrate International Workers’ Day.

The Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, made the declaration on behalf of the Federal Government.

This was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abuja by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani.

Tunji-Ojo commended Nigerian workers for their hard work, resilience and dedication to national development, noting that their contributions remain vital to the country’s growth and prosperity.

He urged workers to continue to embrace patriotism, productivity and commitment to service, describing the qualities as essential to sustainable development.

“These qualities are crucial for sustainable development,” the minister said.

Tunji-Ojo also assured workers that the Federal Government remains committed to promoting their welfare and security by creating a favourable environment for economic growth and national progress.

He encouraged workers to use the occasion of Workers’ Day to reflect on the importance of unity, diligence and hard work in nation-building.

The minister congratulated workers across the country and wished them a peaceful May 1 Workers’ Day celebration.
