The NBA Garki Branch Continuing Legal Education (CLE) Committee has announced the launch of the “Tech Skills Lab” starting with its Foundation Level, an intensive, three-day digital bootcamp specifically engineered to transform young and old legal practitioners from analogue advocates into digitally-dexterous professionals.

Scheduled to run from February 23 to 25, 2026, the Lab is a direct response to the increasing demand for technological efficiency in Nigerian courtrooms and corporate environments. This “Tech Lab” is a hands-on, practical environment designed to demystify digital tools that make Nigerian lawyers more efficient and effective advocates.

Speaking on the vision behind the initiative, the Chairman of the NBA Garki CLE Committee, Folarin Aluko, emphasized that digital literacy is no longer an “added advantage” but a fundamental requirement for the modern lawyer.

“We are moving past the era of ‘analogue’ advocacy,” Aluko stated. “Modern legal practice is no longer just about knowing the law; it is about the speed, precision, and security with which you can deliver it. Nigerian lawyers must possess the digital dexterity to manage workflows, utilize AI tools ethically, and protect client data in an increasingly volatile cyber landscape.”

The syllabus for the three-day program targets the “pain points” of daily legal work. Participants will undergo rigorous training in:

• Document formatting (Word & PDF) • File management, organisation & workflow • Professional email & deadline management • Basic Excel for legal work • Legal research, presentations & AI tools • Introduction to cybersecurity for lawyers

The CLE Committee has announced that registration for the Lab is entirely free.

Beyond the immediate acquisition of skills, participants who attend all 3 days will receive formal certification and gain exclusive entry into a “Community of Resources” — a curated network providing ready-to-use digital templates and ongoing technical support.
