Nollywood Actor Dismisses Claims Of Affair With Colleague As Social Media User Alleges Marriage Breakdown

Nollywood actor Uzor Arukwe has issued a strong warning to a social media user who falsely accused him of impregnating actress BamBam, claiming the alleged affair led to the breakdown of her marriage to fellow Big Brother Naija alumnus Teddy A.

The actor, in a statement shared on X (formerly Twitter), described the allegations as “false rumours and baseless accusations” and vowed to take legal action against the individual responsible for spreading the defamatory claims.

The controversy began when an X user with the handle Ahmgabriel1 alleged that Teddy A had divorced BamBam after discovering she was pregnant for Arukwe. The post, which has since gone viral, claimed the revelation came through a “leaked private chat.”

“Popular movie actress BamBam (achalugo) has been reportedly divorced by her husband after finding out his wife was pregnant for her colleague who played the role of her odogwu in their recent movie,” the post reads. “He got to find out through her leaked private chat with him. Hmmm it’s sad to say women are never to be trustworthy.”

The claim surfaced shortly after BamBam and Teddy A sparked speculation about marital troubles by unfollowing each other on Instagram.

Responding to the allegations, Arukwe made it clear he would not tolerate such defamation. He stated that he deliberately refused to quote the account directly to avoid giving it unwarranted attention, but warned that the individual would face serious consequences.

“A specific account has been identified to spread false rumors and baseless accusations about me and my professional engagement with another colleague in the industry,” Arukwe wrote. “I choose not to quote the account directly, as I refuse to give such accounts the engagement they seek at the risk of jail time.”

He added: “Believe me when I say this: that individual will be made a scapegoat so others learn to respect boundaries and refrain from chasing clout and Elon Musk money at the expense of damaging someone else’s reputation.”

Arukwe and BamBam recently starred as romantic leads in Omoni Oboli’s film ‘Love In Every Word,’ where they played characters that earned them the on-screen nicknames Odogwu and Achalugo.

The false rumour appears to have stemmed from their professional collaboration in the movie, with the social media user conflating their on-screen chemistry with real-life events.

BamBam and Teddy A — whose real names are Bamike and Tope Adenibuyan — met during the 2018 season of Big Brother Naija and have been regarded as one of the show’s most enduring couples. They share two children together.

The couple’s recent decision to unfollow each other on Instagram sparked widespread speculation about the state of their marriage, though neither party has publicly commented on their relationship status.

Entertainment industry observers note that celebrities and public figures increasingly face malicious rumors designed to generate engagement and attract attention on social media, often at the expense of their personal and professional reputations.

If Arukwe follows through on his threat to take legal action, the case could set an important precedent for how celebrities protect themselves against false and damaging content on social media.

As of the time of this report, neither BamBam nor Teddy A has publicly addressed the rumours about their marriage or the false allegations involving Arukwe.

The couple’s silence has left fans and followers divided, with some expressing support and others calling for clarity on the situation.
