The Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Garki Branch, Mr. Anthony Bamidele Ojo, has called on members of the Branch to remain calm and united following recent developments that have sparked discussions within the Association.

In a statement issued on Sunday morning, Ojo emphasised the need for restraint, noting that the leadership of the Branch is fully committed to ensuring that the NBA Garki Branch does not descend into division or disorder under any circumstances.

According to him, the Branch has a long-standing reputation for peace, professionalism, and collegiality, which must be preserved even in moments of internal disagreement.

“While I respectfully appeal to colleagues to sheath their swords, it is important that we emerge from every situation stronger and better,” he said.

The Chairman assured members that efforts are ongoing to secure peace, progress, and the continued positive image of the Branch, stressing that the welfare of the profession remains his primary concern.

In a gesture widely viewed as responsible leadership, Ojo took personal responsibility for recent events and apologised for any actions that may have inadvertently cast the Branch or the legal profession in a negative light.

He reaffirmed the Branch’s commitment to integrity and ethical standards, describing them as core values that will continue to guide its activities.

Reacting to the statement, members of the Branch described the Chairman’s approach as “measured and statesmanlike,” adding that “his decision to prioritise unity and de-escalation reflects the kind of leadership the Branch is known for.”

Another member noted that the call for calm was timely, saying, “What the Branch needs now is maturity and respect for process. The Chairman’s statement helps to steady the ship and refocus attention on our shared professional values.”

The NBA Garki Branch, also known as the Liberty Bar, is one of the prominent branches of the Association in the Federal Capital Territory and is recognised for its active engagement in professional and justice-sector initiatives.
