Lagos-based TikTok influencer and livestreamer Hamzat Habeeb, popularly known as Peller, has been hospitalised following a deliberate car crash on the Lekki-Epe Expressway during a live broadcast on Sunday.

The incident unfolded during a viral livestream titled “RIP Peller,” in which Peller, alone in his newly purchased Mercedes-Benz, appeared visibly distressed while speaking emotionally on a phone call, reportedly with his girlfriend, amid rumours of a breakup.

During the livestream, Peller made alarming statements, including: “I will use this car and have an accident right now,” and “If you leave me, people will mock me… Thank you, I’m going to kill myself.” Moments later, he drove the vehicle into a stone barrier, causing significant damage following another quarrel with Jarvi

Bystanders rushed to assist Peller at the scene before he was taken to a hospital. Details regarding the extent of his injuries are yet to be confirmed. Images shared online showed extensive damage to his Mercedes-Benz.

The incident has sparked widespread concern on social media, with many users calling for greater awareness of mental health challenges among online content creators. Some viewers also urged the Federal Road Safety Corps to investigate the matter, citing the risk posed to Peller and other road users.

This is not the first time the 20-year-old influencer has been involved in alarming situations during livestreams. In August, he was reportedly abducted by armed men while broadcasting live on TikTok, an incident that drew significant attention online.

As of filing this report, neither Peller nor the authorities have released official statements regarding the crash. The Lagos State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, said she would provide updates after receiving full details from the Divisional Police Officer handling the case.
