The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has informed its members of recent developments regarding the Corporate Affairs Commission’s (CAC) newly deployed AI-powered Intelligent Company Registration Portal (ICRP).

The Secretariat disclosed that it received a letter from the CAC dated 26th August 2025, acknowledging the challenges faced by users during the transition from the old system.

The CAC explained that the ICRP was introduced to replace the previous Company Registration Portal (CRP), which captured only about 30% of its services and was unable to support the Commission’s growth adequately. While the rollout has caused temporary inconveniences, the CAC assured that measures are being implemented to stabilize the system.

Key updates highlighted by the Commission include:

  • Backend Restored: CAC reports that its backend systems have been fully restored.
  • Clearing of Backlog: Staff have been instructed to resolve all pending requests within one week, with many volunteering to work over weekends to ensure smooth processing.
  • Emergency Desk: A dedicated helpdesk has been established at the Office of the Special Adviser to the Registrar-General for urgent complaints. Members can reach the desk via stakeholderscomplaints@cac.gov.ng.
  • Timeline for Stabilization: The portal is projected to reach 95% stabilization by 7th September 2025, with full optimization and expansion expected in phases over the next six months.

The NBA expressed appreciation for the assurances from the Registrar-General/CEO, Ishaq Hussaini Magaji, SAN, and reaffirmed its commitment to engaging with the CAC to address members’ concerns. Lawyers experiencing difficulties with the portal are encouraged to utilize the emergency helpdesk and document challenges for follow-up.
