The Ika Lawyers Association has announced a call for articles ahead of its upcoming Global Conference scheduled to hold on October 16 and 17, 2025, at the Vienna Arena, Agbor, Delta State.

Themed “The Ika People of Nigeria: Advancing and Preserving Cultural Heritage through the Law”, the conference is designed to foster critical discussions and explore legal frameworks that can protect and promote the rich cultural heritage of the Ika people.

According to the Association, the call is open to legal scholars, practitioners, and students who are expected to submit original and insightful papers addressing the theme. Submissions will be rigorously scrutinized using Turnitin software to check for AI detection and copyright infringement, ensuring academic integrity.

Outstanding entries will be rewarded with cash prizes and valuable law textbooks. The first runner-up will receive ₦200,000 and law textbooks, the second runner-up ₦100,000 and law textbooks, while the third runner-up will get ₦50,000 and law textbooks. Selected papers will also be published in the Association’s Journal.

Eligibility is open to lawyers with one to three years post-call experience and law students within and outside Nigeria. The deadline for submission is September 30, 2025, with entries to be sent to ikalawyersassociation1@gmail.com.

The Association urged prospective participants to seize the opportunity to contribute to advancing legal scholarship and safeguarding the cultural heritage of the Ika people.
