Ahead of the main Annual General Conference of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), national president Afam Osigwe, SAN, on Saturday led thousands of lawyers from across the country on a 10-kilometre health walk in Enugu State.

Participants lauded the clean environment of Enugu city, expressing delight at the hospitality and the organization of the walk. Speaking during the event, Osigwe described the experience as exhilarating and emphasized the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

“I felt on top of the world during this walk. It is crucial for us, as legal practitioners, to prioritize fitness and wellness,” Osigwe said. He also expressed hope that Nigerians would engage in conversations aimed at making the country economically strong and positioning it as an economic giant.

Other delegates shared their admiration for Enugu, calling it a very clean city and welcoming the opportunity to attend this year’s NBA conference in the Coal City.

Venatus Odo, Chairman of NBA Enugu Branch, expressed satisfaction with the enthusiasm and participation of NBA members from different regions, noting that attendees would leave Enugu with fond memories.

The health walk, a traditional feature of the NBA Annual Conference, underscores the importance of physical and mental wellness in the legal profession, which often demands long hours, intense focus, and high levels of stress.

“The health walk is more than a routine; it reinforces the fact that staying fit is essential for sustaining the strength and clarity we need to serve justice and society,” Osigwe said, describing the walk as an energizing start to the week-long conference.

The 2025 NBA Annual General Conference, running from August 22 to 29, is themed “Stand Out, Stand Tall,” and promises a week of intellectual sessions, robust debates, and social engagements for legal professionals from across Nigeria.
