After weeks of strategic consultations, the Nigerian National Coalition Group (NNCG) has formally submitted an application to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for the registration of a new political party named All Democratic Alliance (ADA).

The application, dated June 19, 2025, and officially received by INEC on June 20, was signed by Chief Akin A. Rickets, the Protem National Chairman of the proposed party. In the letter, the NNCG stated that the decision to float a new political party was backed by extensive deliberations and the recommendation of a committee headed by former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi.

According to the application letter sighted in Abuja, ADA’s slogan will be “Justice for All”, and its logo, party flag, constitution, and manifesto have been duly submitted in line with the requirements of Section 40 and 222 of the Nigerian Constitution, and Section 75 of the Electoral Act 2022.

“We respectfully write to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), requesting the registration of our association, the All Democratic Alliance (ADA), as a political party,” the letter read in part. “We have also herewith attached our logo describing in details the symbolism of our party colours and the corn (Maize), as well as our manifesto and constitution.”

The submission marks a major step by the NNCG, a broad political coalition reportedly comprising prominent figures including former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Rotimi Amaechi, and convener of the League of Northern Democrats, Dr. Umar Ardo.

Sources reveal the coalition had initially considered aligning with existing parties such as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and the Social Democratic Party (SDP), but internal crises and ongoing litigations within these platforms forced a rethink.

In response, the group opted to form an entirely new political structure to ensure a level playing field for all members. The committee, led by Amaechi, concluded that a fresh party platform would best reflect the coalition’s ideology and democratic aspirations.

The ADA now awaits INEC’s response and further actions regarding its registration bid. If approved, it could significantly reshape Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of future elections.
