The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) has called on qualified legal practitioners to express interest in appointments to the Federal High Court Bench, following a formal request by the Honourable Chief Judge of the Federal High Court in a letter dated May 26, 2025.

This opportunity is open to legal practitioners who hail from the following states: Abia, Akwa Ibom, Enugu, Imo, Kaduna, Plateau, and Taraba.

According to a notice issued by the NBA, eligible members of the Bar are expected to submit their Expression of Interest to the NBA on or before June 19, 2025. The application must demonstrate the applicant’s professional qualifications, legal experience, adherence to ethical standards, and compliance with NBA regulations.

Applicants are to submit the following:

  • Curriculum Vitae (CV) and Call to Bar Certificate
  • Evidence of payment of Bar Practising Fees (BPF) and Branch Dues for the past 10 years
  • NBA Annual General Conference attendance records
  • Proof of membership in NBA Sections or Fora
  • At least six (6) certified true copies of judgments from contested cases handled in the last five years
  • Letter of good standing from their Branch Chairman in line with National Judicial Council (NJC) guidelines on character, competence, and professional ethics

The NBA noted that the selection process may involve public scrutiny and interviews to ensure transparency, fairness, and adherence to merit.
