Justice Mathias Agboola of an Osun State High Court sitting in Ilesa has rejected an application sought to stop the coronation of Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.

The court said the application would not be considered until all parties have done the needful and comply with the provision of the law.

The Arimoro family of Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House in Ilesa had approached the court in a suit number HL/8/25), seeking an order of interlocutory injunction, to stop the coronation pending the determination of the suit before the court.

The applicants joined Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup, and nine others as respondents in the suit, arguing that the process for the selection of the monarch did not follow due process.

Counsel to the state government, Muyiwa Ogunleye, informed the court that the parties have not been served, saying it would be unfair to consider the suit.

Justice Agboola thereby held that the court will not grant any injunction until all applications regarding service and harmonization of parties are addressed.

He observed that the pleadings were extended over four months instead of 60 days, noting that both parties have not been serious with the case.

“Its so sad that these pleadings were extended over four months instead of 60 days. Both parties have not been serious with the case.

“However, until all pending applications have been addressed, it will be unwise for the court to grant the interlocutory injunction,” justice Agboola said.

The judge, however, adjourned the case to 3rd of July, 2025 for hearing.
