The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), through its Data Protection Committee, has launched a nationwide survey to solicit members’ feedback on the growing concern over the use of direct marketing—especially unsolicited campaign messages and calls—during NBA national and branch elections.

In a statement signed by Adamma Isamade, Secretary of the NBA Data Protection Committee, the Association emphasized that the brief survey is aimed at promoting respect for voter privacy, enhancing data security, and ensuring fairness and transparency in its electoral processes.

“As a valued member of the Association, your input is crucial to supporting compliance with applicable data protection laws,” the Committee noted.

The survey, which takes less than five minutes to complete, is anonymous and seeks to better understand how lawyers perceive the use of their personal data during election seasons. It can be accessed via this link: https://forms.gle/ajbzSmEXeaPMZrjNA.

The initiative is part of the NBA’s broader push to embed ethical standards in its internal democratic processes while safeguarding the personal data of members in line with Nigerian and international data protection regulations.

The Committee expressed appreciation to members willing to participate, stating: “We appreciate your time and contribution to building a more secure and ethical electoral process.”
