The Council of Legal Education (CLE) is dedicated to ensuring a fair, transparent, and efficient admission process for all applicants to the Nigerian Law School. To maintain this commitment, the CLE has established the following guidelines to address any major queries or discrepancies that may arise during the application process.

These guidelines ensure that all applicants are treated fairly, consistently, and that any issues are resolved promptly.

1. NAME DISCREPANCIES

  • Error by the Applicant
If a name discrepancy is discovered due to an error by the applicant, the applicant must depose to an affidavit acknowledging the error. The affidavit should state the correct names and their arrangement as verified by the University. The affidavit must be sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths or a Notary Public.
  • Error by the University
If the name discrepancy is determined to be caused by the University, the university must provide a written acknowledgment of the error. The acknowledgment must state the correct names and arrangement and be issued on the university’s letterhead, signed by the Registrar.

2. MISSING OR INCOMPLETE DOCUMENTS

  • Failure to Submit Required Certificates or Payment Receipt
If an applicant fails to submit a required certificate (such as WAEC or LLB certificate) or receipt of payment for the application fee, the applicant must ensure to submit these documents without delay.
  • Failure to Attach Letter of Transfer
If an applicant fails to attach a letter of transfer from another university, the applicant must provide the required letter of transfer. The letter must be on the university’s letterhead and signed by the appropriate university official.

3. UNACCOUNTED PERIODS

  • If an applicant has an unaccounted period in their application, they must depose to an affidavit detailing their whereabouts during this unaccounted period. The affidavit must be sworn before a Commissioner of Oaths or a Notary Public.

4. INCOMPLETE FORMS

  • Failure to Submit Form C
If an applicant has failed to submit Form C, they must complete and submit the form along with an affidavit acknowledging the contents of the form. The affidavit must be sworn to before a Commissioner of Oaths or a Notary Public.
  • Incomplete Employment History or Other Sections
If the Employment History or other relevant sections of the form have not been filled, the applicant must complete the required sections. Photocopies are not accepted.

5. SUBMISSION OF RESPONSES

  • All responses to queries must be addressed to the Secretary to Council/Director of Administration, Nigerian Law School, Headquarters, Bwari, Abuja. A covering letter must be attached, stating in capital letters the applicant’s name, university, and the applicable query.
  • Responses must be submitted via despatch or courier service unless the applicant resides in Abuja or has a representative who can submit the response on their behalf.
