The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Port Harcourt Branch has taken a proactive step to ensure a seamless experience for delegates attending this year’s NBA Annual General Conference (AGC) in the Garden City.

Rising from its monthly general meeting, the branch unanimously resolved to establish its own Local Organising Committee (LOC) to oversee logistics and hospitality for the event. This move follows uncertainties surrounding the attempt by the Afam Osigwe-led NBA to constitute a separate LOC for the conference.

Inaugurating the committee, the Branch Chairman, Mrs. Cordelia Eke, outlined the committee’s responsibilities, urging members to prioritize the welfare of delegates. The LOC will assist with registration challenges, provide logistical support, coordinate the much-anticipated “Port Harcourt Night,” and undertake other tasks necessary to enhance the conference experience.

“Our goal is to ensure that all delegates enjoy a seamless and memorable conference. Port Harcourt is known for its hospitality and excellence, and we are committed to making this AGC one of the best,” Eke stated.

The committee is chaired by Mr. Romeo Isokariari, with Dr. Peter Ayogu as Vice Chairman and Miss Obinichi Ugo as Secretary, among other members.

Tensions had previously arisen over the formation of an LOC by the NBA leadership, as some Rivers State NBA chairmen reportedly opposed the process, citing a lack of consultation. This led to the abandonment of the planned inauguration of the committee.
