The Idibia family has officially petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) over the sudden and unexplained disappearance of Nigerian music icon, Innocent Idibia, popularly known as 2Baba.

According to the petition, filed by their legal representatives Wilson Anuge Esq of Anuge, Anuge & Co, 2Baba was last seen on the morning of February 10, 2025, when he left his residence in his lounge wear for a routine walk. However, he never returned, and all attempts by his family, staff, and associates to reach him have been unsuccessful.

The family expressed deep concern, noting that it is highly unusual for the renowned artist to disappear without any form of communication. They highlighted that his absence has not only caused emotional distress to his wife, children, and loved ones but has also disrupted his music empire.

Adding to the growing alarm, several close friends have reported receiving messages from his social media accounts soliciting financial assistance—an action they believe is out of character for 2Baba. This development has fueled suspicions that his identity may have been compromised and that he may have been abducted by individuals attempting to exploit his name for financial gain.

Given the gravity of the situation, the Idibia family has urged the DSS to launch an urgent investigation, locate the missing musician, and ensure his safe return.

The petition emphasizes the impact of 2Baba’s disappearance, not just on his family and career but also on his fans and the Nigerian music industry. The family remains hopeful that the security agencies will act swiftly to unravel the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.

The emergence of the petition follows a viral video released by 2Baba’s mother, Rose Idibia, on Thursday, where she emotionally pleaded with Nigerians to intervene and urge Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru to leave her son alone. Mrs. Idibia claimed that 2Baba was “not in his right senses” due to his ongoing divorce from Annie Idibia. She further alleged that Osawaru had placed mystical beads on him, urging her to “free him.”

The video surfaced amid speculations about 2Baba’s relationship with Osawaru, especially after he was seen proposing to her in a widely circulated video. While 2Baba defended Osawaru, stating that she had no role in his divorce, his sudden disappearance has now heightened concerns, prompting his family to seek urgent intervention from the authorities.
