FIDA Nigeria, Rivers State Branch, held its Triennial General Meeting on Monday, December 9th, 2024, marking the end of the tenure of the Mrs. Adata Bio-Briggs led Executive Committee which began in December 2021.

In a statement by Rachel Princewill AICMC, Publicity Secretary of FIDA Nigeria, Rivers State Branch, she said, “Over the past three years, the Adata Bio-Briggs administration achieved remarkable strides for FIDA Rivers, taking the state by storm through enlightenment campaigns on the rights of women and children, the Child Rights Law, and the Violence Against Persons Prohibition (VAPP) Law.”

The highlight of the meeting was the election and inauguration of the new Executive Committee that will lead the Branch for the next three years from December 2024 to December 2027. The newly elected executives are:

Chairperson: Tamunoibuemi Life-George
Secretary: Okorite Kelvin Yobo
Treasurer: Concellia O. Enwereuzoh
Financial Secretary: Oluchi Ofoegbu
Publicity Secretary: Rachel Princewill
Assistant Publicity Secretary: Sotonye Kelechi-Nwuzi
Welfare Secretary: Tosan Jaja

The position of Secretary was closely contested, with Okorite Kelvin Yobo emerging victorious with 25 votes over Ibiwari Harry’s 15 votes. The offices of Vice Chairperson and Assistant Secretary remain vacant pending a bye-election to be scheduled by the new Executive Committee.

In her acceptance speech, newly elected Chairperson Tamunoibuemi Life-George pledged to build upon the accomplishments of the previous administration and elevate FIDA Nigeria, Rivers State Branch to new heights.
