The Ondo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has granted the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa permission to inspect election materials used in the November 16, 2024 governorship election.

In a ruling delivered by a three-member panel led by Justice B.A.N. Ogbu, the tribunal ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to grant the applicants access to crucial election materials, including the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS) machines and server reports.

The tribunal also permitted APC’s forensic and handwriting experts to inspect and electronically scan ballot papers and various election result forms, including Forms EC8A through EC8E. The order covers access to all polling documents, used and unused ballot papers, and voter registers from all polling units in the state.

The motion, argued by Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, SAN, alongside other counsel, was filed against INEC, Ajayi Alfred Agboola, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as respondents.

Notably, the tribunal mandated that any inspection of electoral materials by other respondents must be conducted jointly with the APC and its representatives. INEC was also ordered to provide written confirmation if any electoral materials are unavailable, along with reasons for such unavailability.
