The Criminal Justice Cohort of the MacArthur Foundation is hosting the 2nd Regional Conference on Administration of Criminal Justice on Monday, October 21st, 2024 at the Abuja Continental Hotel. The conference, themed “Leveraging Technology in the Criminal Justice System,” will bring together key stakeholders to discuss the transformative potential of technology in addressing challenges within criminal justice systems across sub-Saharan Africa.

The showcase session, chaired by Hon. Justice Mojeed Owoade JCA (RTD), a retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, will feature distinguished speakers including:
– Dr. AimĂŠ Muyoboke Karimunda, Rector of the Institute of Legal Practice and Development (ILPD) in Rwanda, as the lead speaker
– Hon. Alpha Sesay, Deputy Minister of Justice for Sierra Leone
– Hon. Justice Kashim Zannah, Chief Judge of Borno State, Nigeria
– Fernandez Marcus-Obiene, Special Advisor to the President of Nigeria on Justice Sector Reforms, ICT/Digital and Innovative Technology
– Ope Olugasa, CEO of Law Pavilion, a premier legal software and analytics company
– Nelson Olanipekun, Team Lead at Citizen’s Gavel
Members of the Criminal Justice Cohort, including ICPC, CMPA, the Administration of Criminal Justice Monitoring Committee Federal, the Rule of Law and Empowerment Initiative, LEDAP, and CLEEN Foundation, will also be in attendance.
The conference aims to foster dialogue, knowledge-sharing, and collaboration among justice sector leaders, policymakers, legal practitioners, and civil society organizations to harness the power of technology for enhancing access to justice, improving efficiency, and promoting accountability within criminal justice systems in the region.
