*Backs Chukwuka Ikwuazom And Tobenna Erojikwe For NBA Presidency

The Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) Lagos Branch has called on its members to rally behind and vote for the branch’s sole candidates in the upcoming NBA National Elections, scheduled for July 20, 2024.

In a statement released by the branch’s Executive Committee, the leadership emphasized the importance of having representation from the Lagos Branch in the NBA’s National Executive Committee.

Mrs. Bolatumi Animashaun, a former Vice Chairman of the Lagos Branch, is running for the office of 2nd Vice President of the NBA, while Mrs. Caroline Obi, the immediate past Treasurer of the branch, is vying for the position of Treasurer. The Executive Committee has recommended that members give their full support to these candidates, as they are the only contenders from the Lagos Branch for their respective positions.

The statement also highlighted the candidacy of two distinguished members of the Lagos Branch who are running for the office of NBA President. Mr. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, SAN, a former Lagos Branch Chairman and current Chairman of the NBA Security Agencies Relations Committee, and Mr. Tobenna Erojikwe, a former chairman of the branch’s Continuing Legal Education Committee and current Chairman of the NBA Institute of Continuing Legal Education, are both contesting for the top position. The branch wished them both the very best in the upcoming elections.

The Executive Committee’s call for support is in line with resolutions passed at the branch’s Annual General Meeting in July 2020 and reaffirmed at the general meeting in June 2022. The leadership urged members to stand behind their branch colleagues to ensure adequate representation at the national level.

The NBA Lagos Branch, with its large membership and significant influence within the legal community, is hopeful that its candidates will secure victories in the national elections. The branch’s leadership believes that having its members in key positions within the NBA’s National Executive Committee will contribute to the advancement of the legal profession and the overall objectives of the association.

As the election date draws closer, the NBA Lagos Branch is expected to intensify its efforts in mobilizing support for its candidates, while also fostering unity and active participation among its members in the electoral process.

The statement was signed by Olabisi Makanjuola, the Chairman of the NBA Lagos Branch, on behalf of the Executive Committee, which consists of:

– Olabisi Makanjuola (Chairman)
– Esther Ifeoma Jimoh (Vice Chairman)
– Emuobonuvio Alfred Majemite (Secretary)
