The Chairman, Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Ado-Ekiti Branch, Taiwo Omidoyin has called on lawyers to develop digital skills to remain competitive and provide effective legal services.

Omidoyin stressed the need for lawyers to acquire information communication technology skills, saying law practices would soon be taken over by Artificial intelligence in the face of the emerging technologies.

The NBA Chairman gave the charge in Ado-Ekiti during the inauguration of the new executive members of Ado-Ekiti Branch, which he was elected as the new helmsman.

Other members of the executive who will serve for two years include Oluwatayo Fabusuyi as Secretary while Khadijat Adeniyi was elected as Welfare Officer.

He said, “The legal profession in Nigeria just like any other profession has its ups and downs. A lot of progress has been made, a few drawbacks. I believe that it is still evolving. The law is a continuous process and is evolving. I believe with time, we will get to where we expect to be.

“The laws are evolving and social circumstances too are not static. 10-20 years ago, no one was talking about Artificial Intelligence, but here we are now, and everybody is talking about AI. We have to keep evolving with the circumstances in the nation and the world at large.”
