The Intellectual Property Lawyers Association of Nigeria (IPLAN) has issued a call for volunteers, seeking lawyers and law students to join its innovative Hybrid Intellectual Property Clinic.

Announcing the call in a January 31st statement, IPLAN Clinic Coordinator Damilola Alabi said the clinic was designed to provide pro bono legal assistance on intellectual property issues to creators and organizations across Africa.

She stated that through harnessing technology, the clinic is expanding beyond Nigeria this year to empower more African inventors and artists by helping them navigate complex IP laws and commercializing their works.

The volunteer opportunity offers hands-on practical experience, mentorship programs, networking and career development prospects for IP lawyers, even non-IPLAN members. Support roles are also open to IP enthusiasts without a law background.

Interested volunteer clinicians must either be legal practitioners, law faculty students or Nigerian law school students. They can sign up on www.bit.ly/IPLAN-Clinic to join the pioneering virtual IP legal aid clinic.

IPLAN continues to drive initiatives facilitating intellectual property rights protection, enabling creativity and innovation across Nigeria and the continent.
