The Nigerian Army’s Directorate of Legal Service invites applications from qualified individuals for the Direct Short Service Commission Course 28/2024.
Applicants must possess an LLB BL from a recognized institution, with a minimum of 2 years post Law School legal practice. The application period is from January 19, 2024, to February 23, 2024.
The DSSC is open to both civilians and serving military personnel, but only serving military personnel sponsored to civil institutions by any of the Services of the Nigerian Armed Forces shall be considered.
Entry Requirements:
Nigerian citizenship
Age between 20 and 30 years (25 – 40 years for medical consultants)
Medically, mentally, and physically fit
Good character attested by at least 2 referees
Minimum height of 1.68m (for males) and 1.65m (for females)
Not convicted by any court of law
Possession of a first degree with at least Second Class Lower Division or HND
NYSC discharge certificate or valid exemption
Graduates with professional qualifications must be duly registered
Original copies of educational certificates (from primary to post-secondary)
Service personnel must present valid military identity cards and letters of recommendation
Candidates must not belong to any cult/society/fraternity
Candidates with the ability to swim will have an added advantage

Directorate of Chaplain Services (Roman Catholic, Protestant, Islamic Affairs)
Conditions of Service:
Direct Short Service Commission granted for 15 years
Officers on probation for the first 3 years
Conversion to Direct Regular Commission (DRC) based on application and availability of vacancy
Successful medical consultants granted the rank of Major
Officer cadets granted the rank of Lieutenant (except for medical consultants who will be commissioned as Majors)

Applicants must print out their online generated photo-slip and sign it as specified
Successful applicants to take a written examination at assigned examination centres
