Tragedy struck in Adamawa State on Sunday when a court clerk, Yauba Usman, was allegedly stabbed to death by a resident after serving him a court summons.

Usman, a staff of the Nasarawo Jereng Area Court, had visited the residence of 43-year-old Linus Dimas in Kugama Wuro Jibir, Mayo Belwa LGA in Adamawa State, to deliver a court summons.

According to a statement from police spokesperson SP Suleiman Nguroje, the suspect attacked Usman with a knife when he attempted to serve the court documents on December 18th.

“Dimas inflicted deep cuts on Usman after rejecting the court summons brought to him. The court clerk was rushed to a nearby hospital but was unfortunately confirmed dead,” Nguroje said.

The Adamawa State Police Command has detained Dimas and the state’s Commissioner of Police has directed immediate and discreet investigations into the fatal incident.
