Popular newspaper columnist in Nigeria, and former BBC and Times of London journalist, Donu Kogbara has reacted towards the controversy around the issue of Lagos belonging to the Yorubas which has been widely supported by the spokesperson for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC presidential campaign council, Bayo Onanuga.

Donu Kogbara who was speaking on Arise inquired from Bayo Onanuga why he collects money from where she comes from, claiming that almost all the money he receives comes from her state.

The Rivers state indigene who faulted such claims from people regarding Lagos belonging to the Yorubas noted that there is an oil well in Lagos named after her village, and that people like Bayo should not have to collect any money from there if he feels that theirs is only for them, and others are generally for everyone.

In her words… “I would like to ask Bayo, so Lagos belongs to Yorubas, and you don’t want to hear anything about it being a melting pot, but more than half the money he spent comes from where I come from.

There’s an oil well named after my village, so, if we want to all be really selfish and exclusionist, why should Yorubas like Bayo get one penny of oil money. So, ours is everybody and he’s is his own”

Recall that Bayo Onanuga had, according to his social media handle opined that Lagos is not a no man’s land as some may have claimed.
