*Kwara, Niger, Jigawa Get New Police Commissioners

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba has deployed two newly promoted Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) Bello A. Sadiq and Dandaura Mustapha to the Force Intelligence Bureau and the Department of Operations.

This is coming on the heels of the recent promotion of the DIGs, following the recommendation of the IGP by the Police Service Commission (PSC) and the retirement of the former DIG in charge of Operations, Bala Zama Senchi.

A statement yesterday in Abuja by Force Public Relations Officer Olumuyiwa Adejobi, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), said DIG Sadiq A. Bello, who hails from Jega Local Government of Kebbi State, was appointed into the Force as an Assistant Superintendent of Police on 15th March, 1988.

He has served in various investigative, administrative and operational capacities, including as Police Commissioner for Nasarawa State; the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the General Investigations at the Force Criminal Investigations Department, and as an Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIG) for Zone 1, Kano.

The statement also said DIG Dandaura Mustapha hails from Daura Local Government Area of Katsina State and holds a Bachelor’s (Honours) in History and a Master’s degree in International Affairs and Strategic Studies from the Nigeria Defence Academy.

The IGP has also deployed three police commissioners to Kwara, Niger, and Jigawa states.

They are: Police Commissioners Odama Paul Ojeka (Kwara), Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji (Niger), and Effiom Emmanuel Ekot (Jigawa).

The IGP urged the newly posted officers to fight crimes, have robust human relations in their areas of jurisdiction and ensure public safety.

He also urged residents of the states to support and cooperate with the new police chiefs to enable them perform optimally.

The postings, Adejobi said, are with immediate effect.
