The Nigerian Bar Association conducted her national elections on Yesterday, 16th of July, and with the announcement of results by the ECNBA, congratulatory messages have been coming in from Candidates who participated in the election to their counterparts who emerged as winners.

In a congratulatory message, Former NBA Abuja Branch Chairman and Candidate for NBA General Secretary in the concluded elections, Desmond Yamah congratulated the NBA President Elect, Y. C Maikyau SAN, the General Secretary elect, Adesina Adegbite and other NBA National Elected officials on their success in the just concluded elections.

He also went to wish the elected officers a successful and memorable tenure ahead.

Mr. Yamah also expressed his immense thanks to all distinguished Senior Advocates of Nigeria and his colleagues who supported him and stood by him before, during and after the election period. He extended these thanks to the NBA Abuja, Garki, Karu, Gwagalada, Bwari, Nyanya/Karu Branches and other Branches that supported him, stating that the support was overwhelming. According to him: “when you love the game, it doesn’t matter if you win it lose because we are all working towards the improvement of our noble Association.”

Yamah thanked the current NBA President, Olumide 3, the Leadership and membership of the Electoral Committee of the NBA (ECNBA) for conducting what he referred to as a hitch free National Officers’ Elections. Despite not winning, Yamah urged his supporters to join and support the incoming administration in order to ensure that it succeeds.

On his part, Ogaga Emoghwanre in a statement made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, went to congratulate his opponent for the position of the NBA publicity Secretary in the just concluded election, Habeeb Lawal, stating that Lawal and his team had shown sportsmanship throughout the election.

“My Dear Brother, Habeeb. Huge Congratulations to you. I wish to congratulate you this day as the Publicity Secretary elect of our august Association.
I thank you and your team for the sportsmanship shown in the course of this election.” He wrote.

Ogaga Emoghwanre expressed that he beliefs that Lawal’s experience would bring to life the hopes he have for the NBA publicity sector. He stated thus: “I am of the firm belief that with your prowess and ingenuity, the core tenets of my hopes for the NBA publicity wing would still be realised.”

He went on to wish Habib Lawal a very productive tenure.

Mr. Nyada whilst congratulating his opponent Chinyere Obasi who emerged winner and Welfare Secretary elect, stated that it was a good fight. His words read thus: “The 2022 NBA election has come full circle, and the election did not turn out the way the team and I had envisaged. I extend my handshake to congratulate Chinyere Obasi and to assure her of my team’s support. You see, we placed her on the sweaty edge during the election far longer than she did to us. It was a good fight.”

Thanking his family, particularly his wife for making his candidacy possible, Nyada wrote thus: “This good fight was only possible because of my great team, and my family, particularly my wife: Achenyo Auta Nyada. I am proud of the strength that is at work in you, God bless you on all sides.”

Nyada extends his hearty thanks to his Strategy team, Content team, Publicity Team, ICT Team, and all his Coordinators across the 128 branches of the NBA. According to him: “You are simply the best, and I am forever indebted to you for the immense support, and sacrifices you put into the campaigns.”

Furthermore, Nyada thanked his supporters for their teaming and heartwarming support. He also congratulated YC Maikyau SAN on his victory as the 31st NBA President. “I congratulate my big brother and friend, the President elect of our great association Y.C. MAIKYAU SAN, your victory is surely deserved and I am super happy you emerged Sir. The excitement of your victory has drawned the pain of the outcome my own election. My President Sir, You have my full support and loyalty as always, and I have no doubt that your regime will be one of a kind.” He wrote thus.

According to Nyada, the experiences over the course of the campaign made him a winner. He stated that he has been a beneficiary of tremendous favours from the calibre of distinguished persons who constituted his campaign team to the volunteers who toiled to spread words of his candidacy to persons I could never have reached myself. In his words, about these persons: “it is on your shoulders that I’m a champion today. Thank you for the sacrifices.”

He remarked that that all the NBA Branches he visited he made friends and acquaintances that became invaluable assets to his campaign.

On a final note, Nyada wrote: “My campaign enjoyed several sacrifices of love shown through donations of various resources from learned Silks, Seniors, and Colleagues. Your uncountable contributions fueled the hopes of my campaign. I have come off richer in human resources because of your good hearts.
Thank you all, cheers to better days ahead.”
