A Senior Advocate of Nigeria, High Chief A.A. Malik SAN has thrown his weight behind the Candidacy of Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN for the Presidency of the Nigerian Bar Association.

The past few days has witnessed the stirring of intense politicking within the NBA as the clock clicks closer to the biennial elections which is about three days away.

In a message made available to TheNigeriaLawyer, Malik who admitted that the three candidates for the number one position in the Bar are qualified for the role however noted that Maikyau ticks all the boxes of a Presidential material and is therefore the most eminently suited for the position.

He said: “All three gentlemen jostling to become the next President of our esteemed Association are qualified, in my view. However, only one of them, id est, the amiable, ebbullient, suave, cerebral, intellectually prodigious and highly sagacious “gentle giant”, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau, SAN, ticks all the boxes and is, therefore, the most eminently suited for the position.

According to Malik, he decided to endorse Maikyau after carefully examining his manifesto which he believes seeks to sustaib and surpass the gains of the present administration.

“I reached this ineluctable conclusion after a meticulous perusal and x-ray of his manifesto of laudable, commendable and estimable programmes which, I dare say, seek to sustain, if not surpass, the gains of the current administration.” He noted.

He equally implored all MBA members, including his opponents in the contest, to support and vote for him. He noted that if the NBA gets it wrong, at this critical time in its history, our Association will be the worse for it.
