*Says Maximus With Maximum Welfare Solution For The Bar

Ugwuoke Ikechukwu Maximus, the leading candidate for Welfare Secretary of NBA has revealed his blue prints for achieving his MAXIMUM WELFARE MANIFESTOE for the bar.

This revelation came during his engagement session with his massive supporter across the country in a virtual meeting hosted by his campaign team last weekend.

Addressing them, Ugwuoke Maximus gave a  blow by blow account of what he termed the ‘MAXIMUM WELFARE SOLUTION’  for solving the issues highlighted in his MAXIMUM WELFARE’ manifestoes.

For instance in the area of providing hospitality centres for lawyers outside jurisdiction, he revealed that his Maximum welfare solution to this is that   he would collate the data of the best hospitality centres across the country and enter into a competitive bargain with them to select the best among them that will be able to give lawyers outside their jurisdiction unbelievable rebates to use their services for accommodation and liesure when they are on outside jurisdiction assignment.

‘On issue of Health he revealed that his Maximum Welfare solution to this is  routine health checks and talks for lawyers across the branches during their Branch meeting,  Ugwuoke revealed that every state of this country has either Teaching Hospitals or Federal Medical Centers manned by Resident Doctors.

‘He stated that  he has a long standing relationship with National Association of Resident Doctors of Nigeria (NARD) and many of the Association of Resident Doctors of these Teaching Hospitals or medical centers  accross the country which had retained his legal services for the association for so many years till date .

‘He said he will leverage on this relationship to ensure that he enters into a mutual partnership with the doctors’  association to be sending their members during the NBA branch meetings to provide health checks and talks to them.

According to him “Lawyers are busy people, they hardly have time to go to the hospital for their health checks or even read up health related issues, but they are not immune to  suffer preventable or treatable illness that could be handled with early detection.

‘The best bet then would be to deliver the message of their health to them and provide health checks for them during the NBA meeting.

‘The current NBA has done well to start started  Health insurance Policy for lawyers but the question remains how many lawyers would still find the time to visit the health facilities for health checks.

‘Again taking proactive steps to prevent illnesses through health checks and talks during NBA meetings would serve a better purpose than lawyers waiting to fall ill. Prevention they say is better than cure.

‘On issue of Remuneration for young Lawyers Ugwuoke  revealed that his Maximum Welfare Solution to this is  that he intends to work with the NBA President to set up a trust fund that would be cofunded by senior Lawyers, Senior Advocates and donor agencies.

‘The funds will be used to pay monthly stipend to young lawyers from the time they are called to the bar until they attain 7 years at the bar.

‘Every young lawyer that would  benefit from the trust funds shall undertake to also contribute a certain amount to the trust fund upon attaining from 7 years at the bar when he would be considered to have become a senior lawyers, to ensure continuity of the project.

‘Ugwuoke who also promised to provide spotting activities for lawyers stated that his Maximum Welfare solution to this will be that he  will leverage on his current position and ex officio national officer of the Nigerian Football Supporters Club to ensure that he achieved this purpose.

‘On housing for lawyers he stated that he had understudied a similar scheme for other professional bodies in Nigeria that that birthed housing scheme for her members some of which he was the lawyer that drafted the legal frameworks for the associations.

He said that with his experience he has the maximum welfare solution to this for lawyers.

He said he has been a real estate lawyer for one and half decade and have worked out the template to achieving a housing scheme for lawyers in a tripartite arrangement that will involve estate developers, NBA and mortgage bank.

He also revealed his blue print for the welfare of the aged and the Incapacitated, and how he will monitor the welfare needs of lawyers within and outside the country and supervise the NBA Insurance and Endowment programmes which are all within the purview of the constitutional duties of the Welfare Secretary under the NBA Constitution.

Other points he highlighted as  contained in his manifestoes  include his digital reforms that would enhance the welfare of lawyers in the country which he would carry out with the President of NBA.

Ending his speech he said “I am Maximus, and I have come with Maximum Welfare Solutions to the bar to serve your as Welfare Secretary with your maximum support. Why Settle for less?”.
