*Call On ECNBA To Immediately Address Technical Hitches To Ensure Credibility Of The Polls

As the much awaited 2022 Elections of the Nigerian Bar Association draws closer, the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association has drawn up pre-election activities to herald the election and ensure a seamless voting process.

One of such activities include Voters Verification which involves the process of lawyers confirming their eligibility to vote in the elections.

Recall that in a recent publication by signed by its Chairman and Secretary, Ayodele Akintunde SAN and Mabel Ekeke respectively, the Committee encouraged Lawyers to ascertain to eligibility to vote in the July 16 poll through a designated link.

According to the Committee, members who paid their Bar Practicing Fees (BPF) on or before 31st March should check their membership status for eligibility to vote at the National election through https://nigerianbar.org.ng/nba/bpfv2/check_status

In response to the directive of the ECNBA, lawyers across the country have since visited the NBA’s website to ascertain their eligibility to vote.

However, the process has not been without some bumpers as it has not been a smooth ride for some lawyers who have faced varying technical difficulties in the process.

Some complaints from lawyers include, unresponsiveness of some commands on the portal, OTP delays etc.

One lawyer said: “The ECNBA needs to up their information. The portal does not function to verify intending voters. After accessing the portal, inputing my SCN number and other sections became unresponsive as it became impossible to add phone number wherein the OTP will be sent for the verification. So, already, there is a disastrous flaw. The need to fix it is urgent. In all, weldone for the effort to make it work.”

Stakeholders in the Electoral process have called on the ECNBA to immediately address the issues raised by the complainants in order to lay the foundation of a credible and transparent election.
