On the 22nd of June, 2022 the 5 Branches of Nigerian Bar Association in Enugu State collectively endorsed the candidacy of the Chairman of the NBA Welfare Committee, Yakubu Chonoko Maikyau SAN for the office of National President of the Association in the forthcoming election.

The adoption which is a major plus to Maikyau’s campaign drive was made at a meeting of Enugu, Nsukka, Oji River, Ezeagu and Obolloafor branches where Maikyau addressed them on his campaign agenda and plans for the Association.

The motion for his endorsement was moved by the Chairman, NBA Enugu Branch, Sir Jude Ezegwui immediately after Y.C Maikyau SAN addressed members of the Enugu Bar Association on his vision for a dynamic Bar that works for all during the interactive meeting organised by Tochukwu Maduka, SAN (State Cordinator) on behalf of Friends of Y.C Maikyau SAN, Enugu.

The motion was supported by the Chairman, NBA Oji River Branch, Seth Nwokolo, Chairman Ezeagu Branch, Nnadiume Oforkansi, Chairman Nsukka Branch, Fred Ukwueze and Chairman Obollo -Afor Branch, Charlie Ugwu.

During the event, members of the branches took turns to deliver positive speeches about Y.C Maikyau SAN and were delighted by the decision of ENBAR.

The Chairman of NBA Enugu Branch, Sir Jude Ezegwui who moved the motion eulogised the qualities of Y. C. Maikyau whom he described as an humble, friendly and an accessible personality and praised him for the great feat he has achieved as the Chairman of NBA Welfare Committee through which succour has come to members of the legal profession in Nigeria especially the Young Lawyers.

The leaders of the bar also urged members to massively support Mr. Maikyau, SAN who has what it takes and has shown capacity to lead the bar.
