Renowned Professor of Law and Former Director-General of the Nigerian Law School, Prof. Ernest Ojukwu SAN has reacted to the recent notice of resignation published by the Chairman of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC), Emmanuel Ukala SAN.

In a Twitter Post, Ojukwu, who is also a Senior Advocate of Nigeria alleged that the Body of Benchers drafted its own law to take over NBA and have now been accused of interfering with the independence of the LPDC.

He questioned where Nigerians shall look to for solace following what he termed “abuse of law” by the highest body in the legal profession.

“Body of Benchers drafted its own Law to take over NBA now accused of interfering with judicial independence/judicial process of the Lawyers Disciplinary Committee.

Ukala SAN standing tall against abuse of rule of law by the Highest body of the legal profession.who shall we run to?”

TheNigeriaLawyer earlier reported the resignation of the Chairman of the Legal Practitioners Disciplinary Committee (LPDC), Emmanuel Ukala over what centrally revolves around his displeasure over alleged interference by the Body of Benchers in judicial proceedings before the Committee contrary to established protocol and laws.

In a three-page letter dated 22nd of February, Ukala explained the reasons for his resignation.
