The Enugu State Police Command, Thursday, announced the arrest of a blind pastor, Okeke Eneokwor, 95, for allegedly murdering a seven-year-old boy for ritual purposes.

The suspect, a resident at Dental Avenue, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu, is said to have connived with the father of the deceased to commit the act.

The state police public relations officer, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, in a statement said the arrests were effected by police operatives attached to the Central Police Station of the command.

Ndukwe said, “On 06/11/2021 at about 1910hrs, the police operatives arrested one Chidi Onyishi, aged 36 (male), of Taylor Avenue, Coal Camp, Enugu, for allegedly being responsible for the disappearance and murder of his seven-year-old-son, Chimdalu Chidi, whom he had also reported to the police on 22/10/2021 as missing.”

Ndukwe said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogations.

He added that “The suspect led police operatives to the arrest of one Pastor Okeke Eneokwor, 95, who is said to be blind.

“He is of Dental Avenue, Trans-Ekulu, Enugu. He was fingered as an accomplice.

“He also led police operatives and the medical team to a stream at Abakpa-Nike, Enugu, where the decomposing corpse of the minor was exhumed from a shallow grave; after he and his cohorts murdered and buried the child on 20/10/2021.”
