A new book has been released by Matthew Godfree titled: “Appraisal of Covid-19 Pandemic From The Perspectives Of International Law”

The book is written from the background of the dualist’s jurisprudence where international law and the municipal law of Nigeria are examined.

For this reason, the book is structured into two parts.

The first part of the book squarely deals with the responsibility of China under international law to curb the spread of COVID 19 pandemic.

The book establishes through the instrumentality of major international laws relating to public health that China failed in its international obligations to prevent the spread of the pandemic. The book maintained that, the failure of China to timely control the spread of the virus affected the global community negatively, including Nigeria.

The second part of this book examines the efforts made by Nigeria in combating the spread of the pandemic among its citizens. However, these measures had Janus-headed impacts on the lives of Nigerians. These impacts are also discussed in this book.

The book concluded by suggesting certain measures to be taken as the way forward in addressing public health of global concern.
