The Management of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) has refuted claims that its website had been hacked by Anonymous, an international hacker group.

This is contained in a statement issued by the NSE Management which was made available to TheNigeriaLawyer.

“We have noted claims from unknown/anonymous groups that they have illegally accessed the website of the NSE. Please be aware that such claims are completely without foundation”, the Management said.

Furthermore, it was stated that there “has been no breach of the NSE’s website, which continues to operate normally, maintained by the high levels of cyber-security which we have in place.”

“Should you have any further questions or receive any enquiries in this regard, please refer same to contactcentre@nse.com.ng”. The statement added.

TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that Anonymous had earlier tweeted that the NSE’s website has been hacked as follows:

“We have HACKED into the complete admin panel of the Nigerian Stock Exchange website! We decided to leave a message this times We will be leaking more from this website later. Expect us, #OpNigeria #EndSARS”.

TheNigeriaLawyer further recalls that Anonymous had earlier hacked the websites of NNPC, NCDC, CBN, Ministry of Justice, INEC, Kaduna State Government, Lagos State Government and the official Twitter handle of National Broadcasting Commission and has claimed responsibility therefor.
