THE Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, Mr. Bala Ciroma has ordered an investigation to be carried out, coupled with a post-mortem on the death of a lady, Ifeoma Abugu, a graduate of the Institute of Management and Technology, Enugu State who was said to have been allegedly killed by the operatives of the Anti Robbery Squard, FCT Command.

However, in a statement issued by FCT Command Spokesman, DSP Anjuguri Manzah, he noted that the CP has directed that a discreet investigation and post-mortem be carried out.

“Consequent upon this, the Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, has ordered a discreet investigation and post-mortem to unravel the true cause of death.

“While sympathising with the family and friends of the deceased, the command wants to assure the public that it will be professional and transparent in the investigation.” He said.

It would be recalled that the lady was said to have been sexually harassed and murdered on the 10th day of September, 2020 by the operatives of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, FCT Command.

Meanwhile, it was reported that three policemen stormed the residence of the deceased fiancé, one Afam Ugwunwa, at Wumba village in the Lokogoma area of Abuja to arrest him, but instead whisked away Ifeoma, who was the person they met at the time.

Unfortunately, the brother to the deceased, Alex, said the deceased, who had just concluded her National Youth Service Corps mandatory service, was arrested and killed four days after she had her ‘introduction’ with one Ugwunwa in Enugu State.

“I was in Lagos when one of my junior brothers called me that he learnt that SARS arrested our sister and she died in detention.

“I just came to Abuja…and I have asked some of my uncles, who have been to the police station, and they said that the policemen alleged that they met my sister unconscious on the bed and they carried her to hospital, where she died.” He said.
