The Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ogun State, says it is not under any pressure to convert the dismissal of the commissioner-designate, Prof. Sidi Osho, into retirement, According to Punch reports.

Spokesman for the school, Niyi Oduwole, who spoke to one of our correspondents, said although the management held a statutory meeting on Tuesday, Osho’s matter was not discussed.
Osho was among 19 commissioner-nominees cleared by the House of Assembly.
Osho was confirmed as the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology by the Assembly.
However, she was not among the commissioners sworn in by Governor Dapo Abiodun last week.
The Food Systems Agriculture expert, who once worked at the Department of Home Science and Hospitality Management, College of Agricultural Sciences, OOU, Yewa campus, was reportedly sacked in March 2016.
Our correspondents learnt that Osho, whose sacking by OOU went viral on social media, had earlier left the school for the Afe Babalola University in Ado Ekiti, where she was appointed the institution’s pioneer vice-chancellor in December 2009.
According to the information on her LinkedIn page, she held the position till January 2014 when her tenure expired.
Osho, who was addressed as a professor at ABUAD, returned to OOU after her stint at the private university.
However, The PUNCH observed that in the dismissal letter said to have taken effect from March 2016, she was referred to as a ‘Dr.’
According to the letter signed by the Registrar and Secretary to the Council, Mrs S.A. Osunsanya, the varsity council considered a report of an allegation of “gross misconduct” against Osho.
The case was investigated by the Staff Professional Ethics and Discipline Committee and a report was submitted through the Appointment and Promotion Committee.
The letter stated, “In considering the recommendations before it, the council viewed your action as unethical and gross misconduct, which is contrary to the university rules and regulations and the conditions stated out in your letter of appointment.
“The council, therefore, in line with earlier recommendations of the Staff Professional Ethics and Discipline Committee and in accordance with extant codes of conduct, approved that you should be dismissed from the service of the university with effect from March 8, 2016.
“In view of the above, I am to inform you of your dismissal from the service of the university with effect from March 8, 2016.
“You are hereby requested to hand over all university property in your possession to your Head of Department.”
An official of the university, who spoke to The PUNCH on condition of anonymity, confirmed the authenticity of the letter.

The source claimed Osho was queried over the management of funds for a project and that she appeared before the university panel.
The source said, “But if she had appealed, the decision could have been overturned. But she left without doing so.”
Oduwole, however, denied knowledge of the letter, adding that the council meeting had nothing to do with Osho.
He also denied any plans by the institution to convert Osho’s sacking into retirement to pave the way for her inauguration as a commissioner.
He said, “The meeting today was a normal council meeting, a statutory meeting of the council.
“I don’t know if her matter (Osho) will be discussed and even if they (the council) will discuss it, it will come under AOB. Her issue was not listed.
“The governor is not mounting pressure on us; there is nothing like that. I was not part of the meeting and there is no way I will know what was discussed.”
