Military shouldn’t be left alone to handle Boko Haram – Shettima

He asked that all security and para-military agencies should get more involved in the war and jointly ward off the threat against the nation. The governor made this appeal on Thursday while playing host to the Chairman of the Legion in Borno State, Col Williams Mamza (retd.), who was accompanied by the Service Chiefs in the state. The courtesy visit was to inform the governor about the Armed Forces Remembrance Day 2019. Shettima, while lamenting the renewed attacks by insurgents that had led to the displacement of thousands of residents in Baga, Cross Kauwa, Mainok, Jakana and other communities, said the fight against insurgency should not be left in the hands of the military alone. He commended the Nigerian legionnaires for their support, cooperation and sacrifices to the government and the security agencies towards the fight against insurgency in the state. In his remarks, Mamza said the Armed Forces Remembrance Day was to honour and identify the sacrifices made by retired and serving military men in defending the integrity of their fatherland.
