The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has filed a forfeiture suit against Proxy Night Club, a popular Lagos nightlife spot owned by socialite Mike Nwogu, better known as Pretty Mike, following a recent drug-related raid at the facility.

The nightclub, located at 7 Akin Adesola Street, Victoria Island, was stormed by NDLEA operatives during what the agency described as a “drug party.”

More than 100 people, including Pretty Mike and his manager, Joachin Milary, were arrested during the late-night operation.

NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi said undercover operatives had earlier infiltrated the club, made controlled purchases of narcotics, and monitored activities for hours before the raid, which took place between 11 p.m. on Saturday and 3 a.m. on Sunday.

He confirmed that officers recovered 384.886 kilograms of Canadian Loud and other illicit substances from the club’s storage section.

Speaking in Abuja at the agency’s annual commendation and award ceremony, NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive, Brig. Gen. Buba Marwa (rtd), said the forfeiture action became necessary after the club “brazenly advertised” a drug-themed event promoting illegal drug use.

“In Nigeria, the possession and use of drugs in persons or premises is illegal. It is against the law, and we are the agency mandated to enforce it,” Marwa stated.

“We will not allow a culture of impunity such as this to evolve. If one club gets away with it, others will follow. We will not allow that.”

Marwa cautioned nightclub owners, hoteliers, and facility managers nationwide to ensure their establishments are not used for drug-related activities, warning that any property linked to such offences would be seized.

“All club owners and hoteliers should be aware that they risk forfeiture of their properties if used for drug activities. We will make an example of this particular club in Lagos,” he warned.
