The final voters list released by the Electoral Committee of the Nigerian Bar Association (ECNBA) seems to be laced with some irregularities.

TheNigeriaLawyer’s close scrutiny of the said list revealed some of the irregularities.

From the Abuja Branch, there appear to be some duplicities in the names of some persons on the list.

For example, the following names appear twice on the list with their numbers:

4425: MOHAMMED YAHUZA
4426: MOHAMMED Z. YAHUZA

4441: MORRIS C. DURU
4442: MORRIS CHIJIOKE DURU

4453 & 4454: MOSES TORKUMA PILA

5502: OPEYEMI AKEEM LONGE
5503: OPEYEMI AKEEM LONGE

5495: OPARA MARTIN I
5496: OPARA MARTIN IZUCHUKWU

Furthermore, TheNigeriaLawyer sighted that from the Ilorin Branch, No. 18750, Abayomi Oluwaseun Oyeyipo is DEAD.

In addition, from Zaria Branch, No. 39210 only has “Bambale” without any other details.

Meanwhile, a source disclosed that the released list is pursuant to the data submitted by the NBA Branches. Therefore, mistakes noticed emanated from them and not ECNBA.

Besides, TheNigeriaLawyer recalls that the Secretary of ECNBA, Cordelia U. Eke, Esq., had earlier reiterated that what determines eligibility is verification and not just by mere appearance of a name on the list.

“The important thing about the list is that only those that are verified will be able to vote. The opening balance on the list cannot verify which means he cannot vote even though the name is on the list.

“That is why we said even though there are duplication, we are cleaning the list, to remove duplications such as that. It is only those that get verified, meaning that you must have your supreme Court Enrollment Number and your Call to The Bar Certificate. If you don’t have all that you cannot vote. For this election, the emphasis is on VERIFICATION.” She said.
