Another session of the  NBA-SBL panelist discussion was held on the topic : “Business Unusual: Continuity In Times Of Crisis”  which was moderated by Dr. Myma Belo-Osagie, Of Counsel, Udo Udoma & Belo-Osagie with the other panelists: Adesua Dozie, Executive Director and General Counsel, Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited ; Nigel Boardman Slaughter & May ; Bolaji Balogun, CEO, Chapel Hill Denham ; Okey Enelamah , a former Minister and Chairman/CEO, African Capital Alliance and Karl Hennesse, SVP Litigation, Investigations & Regulatory Affairs at Airbus.

Meanwhile, while looking at the phase of recovery of businesses during the pandemic, Mr, Bolaji noted that this is a difficult time for businesses and there is need for an acceleration in digital transformative changes.

In addition, Mr. Nigel stated that this is a time when as Lawyers. “cash becomes key and profit becomes less significant” and stated that Law firms in the United Kingdom are helping the Government to formulate appropriate legislations in shaping the effect of the pandemic. Also, he stated the contractual implications that would be occasioned as a result of the pandemic ranging from force majeure, frustration among others and stressed the need for appropriate caution in drafting these clauses in agreements.

Besides, Mr. Okey stated that the NBA SBL has been doing a great work even more so, in this global health crisis. He further stated that there is a need for necessary investment. He equally stated that this is an opportunity for the relationship between international Law firms and our local Law firms to be consolidated and strengthened. Besides, on the importance of the AfCFTA, he noted that there is a genuine fear as to its implementation but “is a self-fulfilling and a right thing to do for Nigeria”. Meanwhile, Mr. Nigel further noted that young Lawyers should maximize the opportunity of this pandemic for self development.

Adesua Dozie equally noted that the pandemic has impacted and changed ways in which businesses operate but there is a need for businesses to adapt to the changing world.
