The Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) has announced that its newly deployed Artificial Intelligence-driven registration platform, the Intelligent Companies Registration Portal (ICRP), now handles over 11,000 company registration and compliance cases daily.
According to the Commission, the portal recently processed 8,000 name reservation requests in a single day—an operation that previously took at least two weeks to complete under the old manual process.
The clarification came in response to complaints regarding poor service delivery and technical hitches on the newly launched AI-powered portal.
In a statement signed by the management of the CAC and sent to our correspondent on Sunday, the Commission appealed for patience as it works to resolve the initial challenges encountered by users, particularly legal practitioners and business owners, who have reported glitches and delays on the platform.
However, the CAC dismissed claims suggesting the portal is delivering poor service or poses a threat to the ease of doing business in Nigeria.
The statement read:
“In accordance with the provisions of the Data Protection Act, 2023, the Commission’s newly deployed Intelligent Companies Registration Portal introduces additional security checks to, among other things, prevent users from surrendering their access to third parties or operating multiple suspicious accounts.
“The ICRP requires that for each transaction with the CAC, a One-Time Passcode (OTP) must be generated, which is sent directly to the email or phone number of the original account holder.
“The new ICRP is undoubtedly a cost-effective system for our valued customers, as they no longer lose money on checking availability. The innovation ensures that customers only proceed to payment after securing the company name.
“The portal now treats over 11,000 cases per day. As of Friday, July 16, 2025, it received and processed 8,000 name reservation requests—a feat that previously required a minimum of two weeks.”
Defending the portal’s performance, the CAC stated that the system has “greatly improved service delivery”, noting that over 3,000 emails are now handled daily, necessitating automation efforts.
Although the Commission acknowledged that the transition has come with “some expected teething challenges,” it assured customers that feedback from stakeholders is being integrated.
“We are not unmindful of complaints, but we are fully committed to delivering better quality services. The portal will soon perform optimally as a true champion of service excellence,” it said.
Addressing delays related to data verification, the CAC explained that technical glitches from the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) prompted it to adopt alternative verification technology. It also assured users that real-time payments are being enabled through additional gateway options.
“The Commission has submitted a request for additional payment gateways, which is currently receiving attention,” it noted, adding that the ICRP is integrated with trusted partners such as Remita for stamp duty and service payments.
To enhance data privacy and curb abuse, the CAC reiterated that the new portal complies with the Data Protection Act 2023 by implementing stricter access controls, including mandatory OTP authentication for every transaction.
“This ensures users do not surrender access to third parties or operate suspicious accounts,” the statement added.
Reaffirming its commitment to reform, the CAC described the AI portal as a “customer-centric innovation” aligned with global best practices and aimed at improving Nigeria’s ease of doing business rankings.
“Our goal remains simple: to emplace processes and frameworks that will stand the test of time in corporate service delivery,” the Commission stated.
