Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory in the National Assembly, has accused FCT Minister Nyesom Wike of granting illegal waivers to his sons on land allocation bills, reducing payments from ₦200 million to ₦2 million within 48 hours.

Speaking during a Arise Tv interview, Senator King alleged that she has documented evidence showing that when Minister Wike allocated “huge tracks of land” to his sons, they were initially billed ₦200 million and ₦100 million respectively for the allocations.

“The bills I have them documented of ₦200 million that you need to pay, ₦100 million here that you need to pay. They wrote to him asking that the bill he should give a waiver and reduce it within 48 hours. They’re going from ₦200 million to ₦2 million,” Senator King stated.

When asked if such actions were illegal, she responded: “Of course it’s illegal. At the very least it’s unfair. It’s unethical at the very least.”

The FCT Senator, who has been engaged in an ongoing public dispute with Minister Wike over his governance style, claimed she obtained the documents through sources within the FCDA who are allegedly unhappy with the minister’s administration.

“I have documents to show that when Minister Wike allocated land to his sons, huge tracks of land. Fine. They as he says though they are his sons, they entitled to land. No problem. But the bills… within 48 hours they’re going from ₦200 million to ₦2 million,” she explained.

Senator Kingibe, who describes herself as “a civil engineer and a fact person,” vowed to present the documentary evidence to the National Assembly for proper oversight of the FCT minister’s activities.

“I wouldn’t come here without having the facts and the documentation,” she emphasized, adding that she plans to take the documents to the National Assembly to demand accountability from Minister Wike.
