The Ebonyi State Government has announced that commercial flight operations will officially commence at the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area, on June 13, 2025, in partnership with United Nigeria Airlines.

The disclosure was made by the State Commissioner for Aviation and Transport Technology, Mrs. Ngozi Obichukwu, during a briefing in Abakaliki, the state capital. She said all necessary arrangements have been finalized to ensure a smooth takeoff of the flight services.

“It is now officially confirmed that we are to kick-start our commercial flight operations with United Nigeria Airlines on the 13th of June, 2025, with flights from Lagos and Abuja to the Chuba Okadigbo International Airport, Onueke,” she stated.

According to her, operations will begin with a flight from Abuja to Onueke and a return trip the same day. Subsequently, on June 18, flights will commence on the Lagos-Onueke-Lagos route.

Mrs. Obichukwu also announced that regular flight schedules will be maintained on Mondays and Fridays, with United Nigeria Airlines as the operating carrier.

She clarified that while online booking is not yet available due to ongoing regulatory procedures, plans are underway to introduce it once clearance is granted.

“The airport is strictly monitored by Aviation Regulatory bodies. The ticket cost is fixed at a competitive rate of ₦100,000 (One Hundred Thousand Naira Only) for flights between Abuja and Onueke,” she added.

Passengers are to make payments directly into the Ebonyi State Government’s account under the Ministry of Aviation and Transport Technology, Abakaliki.
