‎Udongensit, 16, whose address was not provided, pleaded guilty to the two-count charge of ‎burglary as well as stealing, and begged for leniency. The prosecutor, Sgt. Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the accused committed the offences on Sept. 30 at No. 51, Ashimowu Bakare St., Itire, Lagos State, at about 8:00pm. ‎ She said the accused broke into a shop belonging to Utin Okon but was seen by a neighbour who raised an alarm. Osayande said that Udongensit was subsequently apprehended and handed over to the police. The prosecutor said that the accused stole N100,000 from a plastic container in the shop, adding that the money was, however, not found in his possession when he was arrested. She said that during preliminary investigation by the police, the accused confessed to have stolen the money but hid it in a fence when attempting to make his escape. According to Osayande, when the police returned to the scene of the crime, the money could not be found. ‎‎The prosecutor said that the offences committed contravened Sections 285 and 307(2)of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State, 2011. Chief Magistrate Ipaye Nwachukwu ordered that the accused be placed in the custody of the Special Correctional Centre for Boys at Oregun.‎ ‎The case was adjourned till Monday for presentation of facts and sentencing.‎]]>
