he Federal High Court of Nigeria has announced the date for its Annual Vacation for the year, 2018. This was stated in a circular signed by the Acting Chief Judge of the Federal High Court and circulated to all Honourable Judges of the Federal High Court.

The circular which was headed RE: Notification of Federal High Court Annual Vacation For Year 2018, Valedictory Court Session, Legal Year Ceremonies 2018/2019 and made pursuant to Order 46, Rule 4 (d) of the Federal High Court (Civil procedure) Rules 2009, states that the Annual Vacation will begin from Monday 9th July, – Friday 14th September, 2018 while court is to resume on Monday, the 17th of September, 2018.

The circular further reads that during the vacation only the core stations will as usual remain functional and the litigating public will be at liberty to approach ONLY any of the functional courts.

According to the circular, the Abuja Judicial Division will cater for case from the Federal Capital Territory, North central, North Western and North Eastern parts of the Country, The Lagos Judicial Division will cater for case from the Western parts of the Country, while the Port Harcourt Judicial Division will cater for cases from the South-South and South Eastern parts of the country.

It was further stressed that during the vacation, only cases of EXTREME URGENCY, arrest of ship and fundamental human rights cases are to be entertained.

The vacation judges as listed for Abuja are: Hon Justice B. O Quadri and Hon. Justice N. O. Dimgba. For Lagos, we have Hon. Justice C.A. Obiozor and Hon. Justice M.S. Hassan while for Port Harcourt; we have Hon. Justice H.I.O. Oshamah and Hon. Justice Turaki Mohammed.

The circular also states that the 2018/2019 Federal High Court Legal year and Annual Judges Conference will hold from Monday 17th September to Friday 20th September, 2018.
