In his latest reaction to the controversy over the family’s support for Bianca, Ojukwu said, “The fact is that Bianca never told the Ojukwu family that she will be contesting for Senate in 2019, nor did they expect her to.” Ojukwu added in an interview with journalists: “Apart from this, the relevant issues that should be raised should be around her competence for office, her character, her values, her moral fortitude etc. For us, our focus is reclaiming what belongs to Ojukwu Transport Limited.” Some close relations of the family also explained that the matter is part of the ongoing misunderstanding between the family and Bianca since the passing unto glory of the late Ikemba Nnewi. “It is no surprising that one would not support someone that is fighting him or his family. Remember that Bianca, after the funeral of the late Dim Ojukwu, took the family and Ojukwu Transport Limited to court and these matters are still in court,” the source, an Ojukwu family member said. Emeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu Jnr. confirmed this when he said: “Ojukwu Transport is a company founded by my grandfather, Sir Odumegwu Ojukwu. A majority of his properties are vested in the company. There are seven directors including myself. I took over my father’s seat on the board. Bianca decided to sit on company property after Dim died and in some cases collect rent in advance. “We are still hopeful that the police will take the necessary steps to make sure she comes and answers questions to some of the things that we are alleging. “All these cases are in public domain for people to see. She took us to court so she is apparently the one trying to intimidate members of the Ojukwu’s family and not the other way round.” According to him, “the wife of Sir Odumegwu is still alive and has two adult surviving sons,” adding, “All those properties are under the care of Ojukwu Transport. And what happens to them is determined by the board of directors and not by any individual.” The news, earlier in the week, that Ojukwu’s children denied support for Bianca Ojukwu’s senatorial ambition (one of the wives of the late Biafra leader, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu-Ojukwu) has generated hot debate, especially because of the passion the name, Ojukwu elicits in Igbo land. Odumegwu-Ojukwu (Jnr) had, amongst others, hinted at the strained relationship between Bianca and the Ojukwu family, as one of the reasons they would not support her ambition to represent them at the Senate. He had said: “A young woman who was supposedly married to my late father. A young woman who could remarry tomorrow, maybe from Abia State or from Sokoto State? And you want her to come and represent you? I wonder if there are no other people in Anambra South that can represent us. “Has anybody asked the Ojukwu household whether we believed in her to represent us? This is a woman we don’t interact with. She doesn’t talk to us. She can’t venture into our properties. She can’t cross our gates legally anyway in the village. She doesn’t associate with the members of the family.” As would be expected, the development has elicited heated reactions from Nigerians, including Bianca’s siblings and children, who expressed support for her ambition.]]>
