Folks, this piece is about the dress sense of the two highly learned fellas who, one just got retired, and the other promoted to the enviable status of Chief Justice of Nigeria. Just take a glimpse and you would appreciate why I am so pissed. One of the cleanest pictures you would find on the past CJN, Mohammed, is one in which he is seen clutching a hunter’s bag! And, for Onnoghen, did anyone notice how he ensured that maximum value was extracted from the entire fabric he purchased and handed over to his tailor? While Mohammed failed to complement his great looks with a slingshot (catapult), Onnoghen’s ‘double-breasted jacket’ looks more like an oversized rain coat. Now this, why would these fellas spend their wardrobe allowance on anything but smart jackets and trousers which are readily available even in Balogun Market? No, I am not asking them to be styled by Gucci, Chanel, Balmain, Giorgio Armani or YSL. For God’s sake, even the guys at Ariaria do great stuff. Bet that’s why they are winning contracts even from the Nigerian Army! Here’s my piece of advice, somebody in the house must, and should insist, that these learned men, whether of the bar or bench, should dress properly before making any public appearance. If they don’t, that would leave many of us imagining how archaic they are even in their approach to delivery of justice. Learned gentlemen, please, get those wads of dollars off the closet and go grab some decent wear. By Debbie Imoroa ….]]>
