Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, said on Monday that his administration would investigate the allegations of electoral malpractices in the just-concluded local government election in the state. Acknowledging that some political forces were out to sabotage the election, the governor vowed that legal actions would be taken against individuals and institutions that announced false result after the election. El-Rufai stated this in a thank-you-statement he personally signed on Monday. “We have sadly noted that those political forces that do not want free and fair elections tried to sabotage the process. We will investigate and prosecute those indicted. “Also, legal action will be taken against individuals and institutions that announced false results. In a state that suffered painful post-election violence in 2011, we cannot condone such recklessness or neglect to undertake vigorous prosecution,” he said. The governor thanked residents of the state for the peaceful conduct of the LG election across the state, saying that though issues arose in some places, people deserved “our gratitude for the maturity” displayed during the poll.]]>
