The United Nations Secretary-General, Mr Ban Ki-moon, will visit Nigeria from Sunday, August 23 to Monday, August 24 and will meet with President Muhammadu Buhari and state governors.
Talks during the meetings with the nation’s leaders would focus on “Pathways to a new Nigeria-Role of Sub-National Governments.”
Mr Ban will also lay wreath to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the attack on the United Nation’s building in Abuja and embark on a field visit to Kuje Area Council.
During the two-day visit, he would also hold dialogue and lunch with Nigerian business community.
The UN Secretary-General will further hold talks aimed at deepening Nigeria’s democracy with government officials on the theme “Democracy, Sustainable Development, and Countering Violent Extremism.”
The highpoint of Ban’s visit will be his meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari which will be rounded off with a joint press conference.
There will also be a dinner hosted by President Buhari in honour of the visiting scribe.
